When you get augments

  • Four picks per game

The first at the start of the game (everyone starts at level 3), then at levels 7, 11 and 15.
  • Only while you're dead

Riot's rule: you choose your augment when your champion is dead. Hit level 7 mid-fight and the pick waits for your next death.
  • One reroll per pick

You can reroll an offer once, which shows three new cards: up to six to choose from per pick.
  • Three rarities

On patch 26.21 there are 70 silver, 94 gold and 71 prismatic augments. Rarity is not strength: see the augment tier list.
  • Quest augments

Some cards have a task to finish before they pay out. Urf's Champion is the best known; Impassable, Symphony of War and From Beginning to End hand out rune keystones once done.

Runes are off

Riot disables rune settings in Mayhem, so your rune page does nothing. A few keystones come back through augments instead: Impassable gives Aftershock and Glacial Augment, Symphony of War gives Conqueror and Lethal Tempo, and From Beginning to End gives Dark Harvest and First Strike.

That is why the Mayhem build pages on this site show items, augments, spells and skill order, and no runes. Some of the big stats sites still show rune pages for Mayhem; you can skip them.

Summoner spells

  • Every summoner spell is allowed except Exhaust.
  • Five spells exist only in Mayhem: A Dance with Death, Brass Blast, Get Jinxed!, Growth Spurt and Poltergeist.
  • Which spells each champion takes most is on its build page.

Items and stat anvils

  • Three legendary items are only sold in Mayhem: Atma's Reckoning, Rite of Ruin and Sword of Blossoming Dawn.
  • Quest augments can reward items you can't buy, such as Ultra Hydra and Wooglet's Witchcap.
  • Destroyed champions and turrets can drop a stat anvil of a random tier. Anvils you leave on the ground are used up when your shop opens again after a death.

The Golden Spatula

The Golden Spatula is not in the shop. Like Ultra Hydra and Wooglet's Witchcap, it is a reward from a quest augment: finish the card's task and the item is yours.

Headliners

At the start of each game a Headliner band takes the stage and changes the game a little for both teams. The current bands are Cafe Cuties, Command Line, HEARTSTEEL, K/DA, Pentakill, Space Groove, The Bee Band and True Damage. Space Groove, for example, gives every champion 100 gold every half second, up to 1,000.
