The best LoL overlay in 2026

League of Legends overlays that run in the game, with and without Overwolf. Not stream overlays.

Updated October 29, 20268 apps

The short answer

There is no single best overlay; it depends on what you want to see during a game. Porofessor and Mobalytics show the most, with jungle timers, gold leads and build trackers, but both carry ads in their free versions and Mobalytics needs Overwolf. Blitz, OP.GG Desktop and U.GG run without Overwolf, also with ads in their free versions, and each lists an ARAM Mayhem augment overlay.

If you only want the scoreboard per lane, light and without ads, LazyElo's overlay does that. It is part of Plus. This page covers overlays inside the game; a stream overlay for OBS or Twitch is a different kind of product.

App by app

Who each overlay suits, in a few lines.

LazyElo

Pick it if you want the scoreboard per lane, without ads or Overwolf.

It shows level, K/D/A, CS, item value, spells and items for all ten players, green or red per lane for who is ahead, and each champion's ult cooldown at its current level as a fixed number from the patch data. The corner layout adds your build and your Focus plan. No timers and no alerts. It is part of Plus.

Mobalytics

Pick it if you want alerts and timers and already use Mobalytics for builds and guides.

Its overlay has power-spike notifications, live gold leads, jungle timers, a summoner spell timer and a gold-to-next-item tracker. It needs Overwolf, and Mobalytics Plus removes the ads.

OP.GG Desktop

Pick it if you play several games, or need a Mac version.

OP.GG calls it “the one launcher for all your games” with “a range of in-game overlays”, and offers it for Windows and macOS. It runs without Overwolf and shows ads in its free version, says Hexgate.

U.GG app

Pick it if you want your loadouts imported for you.

Its page lists in-game augment tiers, champion select scouting and automatic import of loadouts. It runs without Overwolf and shows ads in its free version, says Hexgate.

Sources: u.gg/app; Hexgate (a rival app), Oct 21, 2026

Hexgate

Worth a look if you want a native app and play only a few games a day.

Hexgate describes itself as a native app built with Tauri and Rust, without Overwolf, free for 3 games a day, with Pro at €9.99 a month. We haven't checked its overlay in detail.

Buildzcrank

Worth a look if you want summoner timers without Overwolf.

Its overlay page lists Flash and enemy summoner timers and gold per lane, without Overwolf. We haven't checked it in detail.

LoL overlays without Overwolf

Of the eight, Blitz, OP.GG Desktop, U.GG, Hexgate, Buildzcrank and LazyElo run without Overwolf, and Porofessor can since December 2025. Mobalytics needs it.

Without Overwolf doesn't mean light. Blitz, OP.GG Desktop and U.GG are Electron apps, which bring a browser engine along, says Hexgate, and the standalone Porofessor is built on Electron too. LazyElo is a native Windows app; what it measured on its own PC is below.

What an overlay may show

  • Nothing the client hides that gives an edge

Riot's developer rules forbid information “not present in the game client” that gives a competitive edge, with ult cooldown tracking as the example. Apps had to drop enemy ult timers in March 2025.
  • Static data from before the game is fine

Riot lists “game overlays that provide static data that is available prior to the game” as approved.
  • No augment win rates

Riot doesn't allow win rates for augments, and that “applies to all websites, applications and overlays”.
  • Not every timer is banned

The game has had jungle timers of its own since patch 25.17, and some apps still list summoner spell timers.

LazyElo's overlay shows each enemy's ult cooldown at their current level as a fixed number from the patch data. It never counts down and never tracks when an ult was used. More on what Riot allows, app by app, on Are LoL apps safe?

LazyElo's overlay up close

  • Three places

Along the bottom edge with your team left of your ability bar and the enemies right of it, as one bar at the top, or as a list in the bottom-left corner with your build and Focus plan. On a 16:9 screen the bottom layout moves to the top by itself.
  • Your size, your see-through

Small, normal or large, and how see-through it is. Changes apply at once, even mid-game.
  • Out of your way

Clicks go straight through it, and it hides when the game isn't the active window. It needs borderless or windowed mode.

The overlay is part of Plus (€4.99 a month or €39 a year). Every new account gets 7 days of Plus free, without a payment card. The full overlay page: LoL overlay without Overwolf.

Light on your PC

What LazyElo asks of your PC: first what follows from how it is built, then what we measured. We only put a number here once we have measured it.

By design

  • Native, without Overwolf

A Windows app of its own. No Overwolf and no browser engine running next to your game.

  • No ads

Nothing in the app loads ads or ad videos, in the lobby or during a game.

  • A small overlay

The overlay is a separate see-through window. It only draws scoreboard info and redraws twice a second.

  • Nothing inside the game

LazyElo reads the client and the game's own live data through the local connections Riot provides. It never runs inside the game process and never reads game memory.

Questions and answers

Which LoL overlay doesn't need Overwolf?

Blitz, OP.GG Desktop, U.GG, Hexgate, Buildzcrank and LazyElo run without it, and Porofessor has a standalone version since December 2025. Mobalytics' desktop app needs Overwolf.

Are overlays allowed in League of Legends?

Yes, within Riot's rules. An overlay may not show information the game client doesn't show if it gives an edge, such as tracking enemy ult cooldowns, which apps had to drop in March 2025. Riot lists overlays with static data from before the game as approved, and no overlay may show win rates for augments.

Will an overlay lower my FPS?

It depends on the app, and few publish a measurement. For LazyElo: the overlay is a separate see-through window that only draws scoreboard info and redraws twice a second. We measured 428 MB of RAM idle in the lobby and 511 MB during a game with the overlay on at 0.0% CPU. An FPS test with and without LazyElo is still in progress, so we make no FPS claim yet.

Does LazyElo's overlay show enemy timers?

No. It shows each enemy's ult cooldown at their current level as a fixed number from the patch data. It never counts down and never tracks when an ult was used.

Is LazyElo's overlay free?

The overlay is part of Plus (€4.99 a month or €39 a year). Every new account gets 7 days of Plus free, without a payment card.

Does it work in fullscreen?

LazyElo's overlay needs the game in borderless or windowed mode. In exclusive fullscreen Windows doesn't let another window draw on top.
